Julianne Murphy
Julianne Murphy started dancing at the age of four, and remained a dancer of Edmonton Dance Factory for the next fifteen years. She has been trained in the disciplines of jazz, RAD ballet, tap, Vagonova ballet, lyrical, contemporary, and musical theatre. Outside the studio, she has been involved in five school musical productions, had vocal coaching, and was on her high school’s improvisation team. Her proudest achievements in dance include the Western Pacific Dance Power Championship first place prize of $500 awarded to her 2007 jazz group (which Stephanie Appelt and Janine Eccleston of MOD were also in) and the $500 award for Top Duet in the Peaks Invitational Dance Competition in 2010. She also received the Cappies Award for Outstanding Choreography in 2010, and was a nominee for the Mayor’s Celebration of the Arts: Young Artist’s Award in 2010. Julianne hopes to graduate with a degree in Elementary Education, with a minor in Fine Arts. She hopes to dance on a cruise ship one day and continue teaching jazz and musical theatre at Edmonton Dance Factory. She would like to not only thank MOD for the wonderful experience so far this year, but also the people who allowed her to get to this point. She is grateful to her family, friends, and teachers for their support over the years, and can’t express how appreciative she is to all who have allowed her to be a dancer of MOD.
