Julian Lucila
Born in Manila, Philippines, Julian Lucila started his dance training with the Chameleon Dance Company at the age of 12. Seeing his potential, he then was encouraged to audition for the 35th Season of Ballet Philippines, and was accepted as a Company Scholar. He was trained in classical and modern ballet under Noordin Jumalon, Victor Ursabia, Ida Beltran, and Jojo Lucila. Julian moved to Edmonton, Alberta from the Philippines, and continued his dance training with the Edmonton School of Ballet and simultaneously, joining the Edmonton Festival Ballet. On his 3rd year with ESB and EFB, he has been a part of productions such as “Aladdin”, “T’was the Night Before Christmas”, “Grass Roots”, “Essence of Dance”, and “Rodeo”. He has also carried on his dance training to the Banff Centre, and the Alberta Ballet School. In the summer of 2008, Julian was chosen along with 6 other Canadians to compete in the Cecchetti International Ballet Competition. Along with dancing for EFB, he danced for his parent’s dance company Chameleon Dance Edmonton. With Chameleon, Julian participated in the Aberdeen International Youth Festival in the summer of 2010. Julian is currently on his 3rd year of his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
