Elli Hanson
Founder
Elli Hanson attended Vimy Ridge Academy's pre-professional dance program at the Edmonton School of Ballet for most of her life. She trained in Jazz, Lyrical, Modern, Hip Hop as well as classical ballet, achieving her Ceccetti Advanced ll examination. Specializing in classical modern and contemporary technique, her love of dance lies intrinsically in choreography. Elli attended SYTYCD Coastal Dance Rage tour, where she placed as a top 8 competitor in the choreography improvisation section judged by Blake McGrath and Mia Michaels. Elli danced with 3rd Street Beat Hip Hop company, as well as the Edmonton Contemporary Dancers for four years. She trained at Harbour Dance Center in Vancouver, the Edge Performing Arts Center in Los Angeles, and traveled to perform in Disney Land with the Edmonton Contemporary Dancers, and Hawaii for Dance Power's finalist solo competition. After attending McGill University for one year, where she was a member and choreographer for the McGill Dance Pack, Elli transferred her studies home to the University of Alberta and founded the MOD Contemporary Dance movement in September 2010. Elli is currently completing her honours Bachelor of Design with a concentration Visual Communication Design and Industrial Design at the University of Alberta. She is exceedingly proud of the dedication and passion of all the founding members which have brought MOD so far in just one year, and she is honoured to be dancing among the University of Alberta's finest for the 2011/2012 academic term.
